Guidance for Digital Outdoor Bookings

The next release of the Framework, which is scheduled for release later this month, will include guidance for how to use AdsML Bookings to convey the details of a digital outdoor advertisement.

TWG Meetings April 2010

This month the Technical Working Group completed Framework 3.5, Release 2.

The minutes of the April TWG meeting(s) can be found here: 2010-04-AdsML-Technical-WG-Meeting-Minutes

There are no more meetings planned this month. The next meeting will be in June:

  • Thursday, 10 June – 09:30 NYC / 14:30 London / 15:30 Stockholm

We will use Skype for voice and DimDim for screen sharing. TWG members who wish to participate should tell Tony in advance and make sure he knows your Skype name so you can be included in the call.

Ad Ticket Panels Updated

The next release of the Framework, which is targeted for mid April, will include updates to the Ad Ticket panels to correct a number of small issues that have been reported by users.

New Duration Element

Beginning with the next release of the AdsML Framework, which is targeted for mid April, users will be able to convey the duration of an advertisement using a dedicated “Duration” element. Until now it was necessary to use a user-defined property for this purpose. Duration can be expressed in any desired unit of measure: seconds, minutes, hours, etc. The Duration element will be available wherever it is currently possible to describe an advertisement’s size.

This new feature is entirely optional and backwards-compatible.

Multi-Lingual Support

The next release of the Framework, which is targeted for mid April, will enable alternative versions of human-readable metadata (such as notes, comments, descriptions and instructions) to be transmitted in more than one language. For example, an organization in Switzerland will be able to include French, Italian and Swiss-German versions of an important instruction.

The new multi-lingual capabilities will be entirely optional and backwards-compatible.

Annual General Meeting January 2010

The date for the next AdsML Annual General Meeting on January 25th, 2010 from 13:00 to 16:00 (European winter time) was fixed at a delegates’ phone conference in June. So we are very much hoping that all delegates were able to block their calendars and will come to the meeting. We will meet at IFRA offices in Darmstadt.

The Ifra offices can be reached from the Frankfurt Rhein-Main Airport by Taxi in half an hour. For very low budgets there is the airport bus and public transport which will bring you to the Ifra office for approximately 8,- EUR in about 90 minutes.

We will review the current status of development from the Technical WG and will vote for the 2010 budget. Board and auditors have to be elected as well.
